Children and Youth Led Service This Sunday – Sept. 27 at 10 am

You are invited this Sunday, September 27 to a special children and youth led worship service at 10 am. During the service children and youth will play active roles as greeters, ushers, readers and preachers. Our Children’s Choir will also be leading the service in song. If your child would like to be assigned a part, please contact Rev. Paige.

Instead of our normal Sunday School, all children and youth formation classes will meet in the Nave at 9 am to practice and assign any last minute roles. There are plenty of jobs left to fill, so feel free to just show up that morning ready to serve. All children and youth are welcome to participate. It is sure to be a joy filled service for all ages.

Interested in Baptism?

We have two upcoming occasions for Holy Baptism: All Saints Day, Sunday, November 1 and the commemoration of the Baptism of Jesus on January 10. Anyone interested in exploring baptism for themselves or for a child should contact the church office (office@stgeorgesepiscopal.net) and/or fill out a baptism inquiry form.  There is a preparation process for adult and older child/youth baptism candidates as well as for parent (or other adult sponsors) of infant/child/youth candidates. Candidates for both upcoming dates will prepare together. Notify the office as soon as possible (no later than September 27) in order to allow enough time for preparation.

Children’s Choir and Chimes – September 13

We are excited to usher in our 2026-2027 Children’s Choir season at St. George’s!

Our first rehearsal will be on September 13 at 3 pm in the choir room (accessible through our graveyard door). Children’s choir and chimes will rehearse from 3 – 4:30 pm on Sunday afternoons. We are still working on finalizing our rehearsal and performance schedule. Please invite your friends to come make music with us at St. George’s! We will send out more information as we approach our September 13 start date. In the meantime, email Juliann Jones to sign up.

Life in Christ Preaching Series

As we return to the program year, it is a good time to return to a basic question: “What does it mean to live as a disciple of Jesus?” Each week in our morning services, we will examine some qualities of “life in Christ” based on the appointed scriptures in the Lectionary.

  • Aug 23: Seeking freedom together.
  • Aug 30: Listening to God’s call.
  • Sept 6: Loving God and our Neighbors.
  • Sept 13: Forgiving abundantly.
  • Sept 20: Practicing Generosity.
  • Sept 27: Changing our Minds and Hearts.
  • Oct 4: Living our Best Life.

The adult forum at 9 am will offer a deeper dive into these themes as well.

Free Concert at St. George’s Featuring Peter and Will Anderson, with guitarist Adam Moezinia

St. George’s Episcopal Church invites the community to a free concert on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 3:00 pm, featuring acclaimed jazz musicians Peter and Will Anderson performing on clarinet and saxophone, and guitarist Adam Moezinia. The concert will be held in the church’s historic nave, located at 905 Princess Anne Street in downtown Fredericksburg. On this lively evening celebrating the Great American Songbook, identical twins and Juilliard graduates Peter & Will Anderson, joined by guitarist Adam Moezinia, explore the extraordinary life and music of Cole Porter (1891–1964), one of America’s most beloved and sophisticated songwriters. Known for his infectious melodies, and unmistakable wit, Porter wrote both the music and lyrics to an astonishing collection of songs that became standards of Broadway, Hollywood, and jazz. His celebrated musicals include Anything Goes, Kiss Me, Kate, Can-Can, and Silk Stockings, and his songs have been interpreted by generations of legendary performers such as Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole. Peter, Will, and Adam bring Porter’s remarkable songbook to life with favorites including “Night and Day,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Begin the Beguine,” “Anything Goes,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “I Love Paris,” “It’s De-Lovely,” “What Is This Thing Called Love?,” and “Just One of Those Things.” Through live music and stories about Porter’s fascinating life and career, the program celebrates a composer whose wit, romance, and musical sophistication helped define the sound of the Great American Songbook.
 
Hailed as “virtuosos on clarinet & saxophone” by The New York Times, Peter & Will Anderson are among today’s leading interpreters of classic jazz and the Great American Songbook. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., the identical twins and Juilliard graduates have headlined at the Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and Feinstein’s 54 Below, and have performed live on Garrison Keillor’s A Prairie Home Companion. They can be heard on the Grammy-winning soundtrack of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks and were featured both on screen and on the soundtrack of Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. The Andersons have performed in 45 U.S. states as well as Brazil, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
 
Guitarist Adam Moezinia is a native of Los Angeles, where he studied at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) under the mentorship of Jason Goldman, Walter Smith III, and Kenny Dennis. In 2010, he moved to New York City to study at The Juilliard School. Since then, he’s worked with many greats such as Freddy Cole, Mike LeDonne, Cecile Mclorin Salvant, George Coleman and Kenny Washington at venues like Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, Birdland and Smoke. Adam has also been performing regularly with his band the “Folk Element” trio since 2017. The trio is rooted in the jazz tradition but is influenced by folk music from all over the world including West Africa, South Africa, the Caribbean, the UK and Appalachia. As of April 2021, they officially released their debut album “Folk Element Trio.”
