Terra Voce in Concert January 15

St. George’s Episcopal Church will offer a free concert by Terra Voce on Sunday, January 15 at 3 pm. The concert is part of the church’s Chamber Concert Series and features music for flute and cello.

Terra Voce is a flute and cello duo exploring an array of musical styles from Baroque to tango, Brazilian choro and European folk. This performance is partially supported by funding from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The concert is free with donations accepted at the door. Masks are not required but recommended.

Located at 905 Princess Anne Street in historic downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, St. George’s Episcopal Church offers a wide range of concerts throughout the year featuring local and out of town musicians. The nave’s lush acoustics provide the perfect backdrop for “beautiful music in a beautiful space”.

Christmas Worship

ChristmasDecember 2022

Worship with us for Christmas and Epiphany! This year, we will have in-person and live stream offerings as we celebrate the birth of Christ.

Please note that our office closes on December 23 at 12 pm and will re-open January 2 at 9 am. If you have a pastoral emergency (e.g. death, hospitalization, loss of job), please text or call 540.361.8573 to reach the clergy on call.

Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022: 

4 pm: Family worship with carols, the Christmas story, and Holy Eucharist. Over-flow and mark-required seating available in Sydnor Hall.

7:30 pm: Holy Eucharist with our Jazz Band and Choir. Festive music starts at 7 pm. There will be seating in the nave, balcony, and Sydnor Hall. This service also livestreamed on YouTube Live. Reservations required.

11 pm: Rite II worship with Holy Eucharist. Our choir and chamber ensemble perform Camille Saint-Saëns’ Oratorio de Noël as a prelude – starting at 10:30 pm. There will be seating in the nave and balcony.  

Christmas Day, December 25, 2022:

10 am: Christmas Day worship with Holy Eucharist and music

December 26 – 28, 2028:

During the Christmastide feasts of St. Stephen (Dec 26), St. John the Evangelist (Dec 27) and Holy
Innocents (Dec 28), look for video reflections and prayers by our clergy posted on Facebook

Sunday, January 1, 2023 – New Years Day

10 am: Holy Eucharist, Rite II with music

Friday, January 6: Epiphany: Hop online and follow the journey of the Magi with our Epiphany worship service on Zoom. Time TBA.

Free Jazz Concert at St. George’s

St. George’s Episcopal Church will offer a free Chamber Concert on Sunday, November 20 at 3 pm. The concert is part of the church’s Chamber Concert Series and features The St. George’s Voices.

The St. George Voices offer a diverse mix of acapella and vocal jazz for an afternoon of music you won’t want to miss. The concert includes works by Orlandus Lassus, Matt Harris, and Duke Ellington.

The concert is free with donations accepted at the door. Masks are not required but recommended.

Now Hiring: Parish Finance Manager

Quatrefoil_WideWe are now hiring a full-time Parish Finance Manager to join our ministry staff at St. George’s.

The Parish Finance Manager (PFM) provides organizational support to the financial management of St. George’s Episcopal Church. The PFM is responsible for specific tasks in financial transactions, vendor management, and financial stewardship.

The PFM has a passion for relating finances to the mission and ministry of St. George’s. They enjoy coordinating with multiple parties, tracking deadlines, data, and expenses. They are a team-player, with excellent organizational skills. They are comfortable analyzing information and problem solving and have a heart for working with volunteers.

Scary Music for Organ Returns

Scary Music for OrganSt. George’s Episcopal Church will offer a free Chamber Concert on Saturday, October 29 at 7:30 pm. The concert is part of the church’s Chamber Concert Series and features the organists of St. George’s: Trystan Bennett, Achim Loch, and John Vreeland.

The concert features repertoire by J.S. Bach, Danny Elfman, Modest Mussorgsky, Johann Pachelbel, and more for a frightfully entertaining evening of music.

The concert is free with donations accepted at the door. Masks are not required but recommended.
