Kitchen Update

June 1, 2026 by Stephanie Dolezal Leave a Comment

The tiger team is working to finalize pricing with all vendors and present the necessary bids, in comparison with the insurance adjustments, to the Vestry for approval. Last week, we trekked to Richmond to price out a three-bowl commercial sink, a handwashing station, and some stainless countertop tables. We have supplied sink dimensions and locations to the cabinetry designer and expect the final design and estimate very soon.

Next steps:

  • Review estimates for new flooring, plumbing nee ds, and cabinetry, then work with finance/vestry to put agreements in motion.
  • Sydnor wood floor: We will continue to monitor the floor with fans running to expedite drying, and the historic hardwood to reform its flat shape. According to experts, this could take several months, but the insurance company will hold our claim open, should the wood flooring need to be replaced.

Open to All in Love: Construction Update

June 1, 2026 by Stephanie Dolezal Leave a Comment

Phase II is underway! Our stonemasons have returned to move some more stones in our graveyard. After careful consideration of the equipment needed for building the retaining wall and columbarium, Daniel & Co requested we move additional stones to ensure they are kept safe. The stonemason’s work should wrap up Sunday or Monday.

Virginia Masonry has already been on site working on the three sets of stairs at our main church entrance. They are cleaning and taking care of some routine maintenance.

The big news: scaffolding is scheduled to go up on June 1! The first part of the work will include removing the paint of the church wall along the graveyard, repointing brick as needed, and then applying the same protective coating used on Faulkner Hall. They will also address the window glazing (Sydnor Hall level) and restore the stained glass window casements on that wall. Additionally, Daniel & Co. will be restoring the louvers of the bell tower. They estimate this portion of the work will take around three months. After that, they will begin pouring the foundation for the columbarium.

Many thanks for your continued support – it wouldn’t be possible without you.

Laurel E. Loch, Chief of Staff and Open to All in Love Project Manager

Feast of the Ascension with Trinity- Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 pm

May 11, 2026 by Stephanie Dolezal Leave a Comment

St. George’s will celebrate the feast of the Ascension with our Episcopal siblings at Trinity on Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 pm. The service will be hosted by Trinity Episcopal Church located at 825 College Ave, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.

We will be gathering at Trinity Episcopal in their outdoor labyrinth to celebrate the Ascension. This prayer service will include readings, hymns, and a short homily from Father Rock. Please bring a chair if you want one. It will close with an opportunity to depart through the labyrinth or do an alternative closing activity. It will be an encouraging and reflective time on the last commissioning of Jesus before going to the “right hand of the Father.” If there is rain, we will gather in their parish hall. We hope to see you there!
