Beau Soir Ensemble to Perform at St. George’s

Michelle Myers Lundy (harp), Carole Bean (flute, alto flute and bass flute), and Ruth Wicker Schaaf (viola), of Beau Soir Ensemble will perform a free concert at St. George’s Episcopal Church.

The Beau Soir Ensemble will perform a free concert at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia on Sunday, April 28 at 3 pm. This free concert is part of St. George’s Chamber Series and will include works by Johann Gottlieb Graun, Maurice Ravel, David Bruce, and Lucas Richman.

The Beau Soir Ensemble is a flute, viola, and harp trio dedicated to the performance of standard and contemporary repertoire spanning a variety of genres. Musicians are Ruth Wicker Schaaf (viola), Carole Bean (flute, alto flute and bass flute), and Michelle Myers Lundy (harp). Known for their exciting performance style and diverse programming, this ensemble continues to attract a strong fan base through its acclaimed performances and unique audience interaction, which includes background, analysis, historical information, and descriptions of performance techniques within each performance. Beau Soir Ensemble’s goal is to make classical music accessible and enjoyable, inspiring a new generation of music lovers.

Located at 905 Princess Anne Street in historic downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia, St. George’s Episcopal Church offers a wide range of concerts throughout the year featuring local and out of town musicians. The nave’s lush acoustics provide the perfect backdrop for “beautiful music in a beautiful space”.

Fredericksburg String Quartet to Perform at St. George’s

The Fredericksburg String Quartet will perform a concert at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, March 17 at 3 pm. The concert is part of St. George’s Chamber Series and will include works by Mozart, Hensel, Mendelsohn, and more.

St. George Chamber Orchestra to Perform Free Concert

St. George’s Episcopal Church will host The St. George Chamber Orchestra on Sunday, February 17 at 3:00 pm as part of the church’s Chamber Concert Series. Selections for the concert will include: Mozart’s “Symphony #29”, Gershwin’s “Lullaby”, and Homilius’ “Kommt, frohe Volker, herzu”, featuring the Choir of St. George’s.

James Kazik, staff arranger at one of the premiere Washington D.C. service bands since 2001, will conduct the Chamber Orchestra. Kazik is a renowned composer and orchestrator, staff writer for Hal Leonard Corp, and the current composer-in-residence for the Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic in Washington D.C.

Peter and Will Anderson Jazz Trio to Perform in Concert at St. George’s

St. George’s Episcopal Church will host the Peter and Will Anderson Jazz Trio on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the church’s Concert Series. Selections for the concert will include music for clarinet, saxophone, and guitar.

Peter and Will Anderson are one of the most extraordinary set of brothers performing music today. Known for their unique renditions of classic jazz songs and innovative original music, they hail from Washington, DC, but moved to New York City to attend Juilliard. Peter and Will have performed with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Village Vanguard Orchestra, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Wycliffe Gordon, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Paquito D’Rivera, Kenny Barron, Bob Wilber, Albert “Tootie” Heath, live on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, and are featured on the 2014 Grammy Winning Soundtrack of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks.

Peter and Will’s debut release from 2012, Correspondence, features Kenny Barron and was listed in Vanity Fair magazine alongside Miles Davis in “Four New Releases to Make You Love Jazz.”  The Washington Post called their music, “imaginatively unfolding in ways that consistently bring a fresh perspective to classic jazz.”

Hazel Run to Perform in Concert at St. George’s

St. George’s Episcopal Church will host local favorite Hazel Run on Sunday, December 16 at 3:00 pm as part of the church’s Chamber Concert Series. Hazel Run is a Fredericksburg-based quartet drawing upon Americana, soul, and rock influences for their rich, folk sound.

Members Karen Richardson, Linda LaFave, Stephen Hu, and Stuart Whitford are multi-instrumentalists whose voices blend in harmonies reminiscent of CSNY, America, and Peter, Paul & Mary. Hazel Run will perform a combination of original songs and their interpretations of other artists’ material.
