“An Intro to Living Yoga and Mindfulness in Your Daily Life” (March 18-20, 2016)
You are invited to complete your Lenten preparation with a spiritual retreat, in the form of a unique pilgrimage to an ashram 2 hours from Fredericksburg. Over the centuries, Christians and those of other religious traditions (like Muslims to Mecca, or St. Georgians to Shrine Mont), have taken pilgrimages to holy places. The journey itself has been as important as arrival at a spiritual place – or “thin space” between “heaven and earth.” This Lenten season, join interested St. Georgians on a pilgrimage before Holy Week to Ashram Satchidananda (www.yogaville.org) for prayer, meditation, and yoga. Yogaville is located in Virginia near Charlottesville and is one of North America’s most prominent ashrams (a spiritual hermitage) focused on the practice of “integral yoga” and interfaith dialogue.
All participants must register individually for the welcome weekend package at www.yogaville.org/products/welcome-weekend. An agenda and overview of the welcome weekend is also at this website. Costs vary depending on how many people are in your group and the housing you need at the ashram.
If you plan to go, also plan on joining hosts Norris and Dr. Delise Dickard for Ashram Pilgrimage Prep, March 6, 2016 5-7 p.m.) at L’Abri (Norris and Dr. Delise Dickard’s home on Potomac Creek). It will include a vegetarian dinner, group fellowship, and an overview of pilgrimage logistics. We will also watch “Elizabeth Gilbert Goes to an Ashram,” a segment of the in the pray/India part of the movie Eat, Pray, Love.
For additional information, please call Norris Dickard at 540-372-3059.
