Choral singing is one of the most rewarding ways to worship, but singing in a church choir for the first time can be scary and stressful. Church choirs have to learn a lot of music with limited rehearsal time, so good skills are a must for successful singers. St. George’s Choral School provides our volunteers with the skills they need to be great worship leaders. We also encourage those who want to participate more fully in worship in the congregation to take advantage of this great opportunity to become better singers.
No experience is necessary, and concepts are presented in a supportive and caring environment that encourages great singing.
The eight-session workshop is held each fall. During the sessions, participants learn:
- Basic vocal technique
- Breathing to sing
- How to sing with great tone quality
- How to listen to everyone but yourself and stay in tune
- How to read music
- Basic music theory
Classes meet on Monday evenings from 7- 9 p.m. in the McGuire Room, starting September 12 and continuing through early November.
