Preserve us, O Lord, while waking, and guard us while sleeping, that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.
St. George’s offers the meditative service of Compline on Sundays at 8 p.m. The Office of Compline is one of four major offices in the Anglican tradition and originates from the ancient monastic tradition of ending the day in prayer. The word itself is derived from the Latin word ‘completes’, meaning ‘complete’, and also marks the time of silence until we wake in the morning.
Led by the St. George’s Compline Choir, we invite you to enjoy this time for quiet reflection surrounded by beautiful candlelight, ancient chant and Medieval-Renaissance polyphony.
All are welcome at this service regardless of religious or spiritual affiliation and we encourage you to make yourself comfortable anywhere in the darkened Nave and find tranquility.
Compline runs every Sunday throughout the program year from September to May. During the summer, Compline is held on second Sundays only. For updates during the summer and throughout the year, like us on Facebook.
