Programs and Ministries

Local Ministries

FredCamp- FredCamp is a local, non-profit 501(3) corporation. We exist to bring together youth and adult volunteers for one week each year; together, we live and work together in a Christian community, performing critical home repairs and remodeling for low-income individual and families in Fredericksburg and the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George. We also make time for fellowship, fun, and great food!

School Dressing Days- School Dressing Days is an Interfaith Community event that provides children with school supplies and clothes to start the school year with. Each child gets a new outfit: jeans and a shirt, two pairs of underwear and two pairs of socks. They can then browse the gently used clothes for two more outfits. Some get new backpacks and school supplies, depending on how many are on hand.  Anyone living in Fredericksburg or the five surrounding counties can stop by for help during the three-day event which helps over 1,000 children start the new school year in comfort.

Cold Night Shelter- For those without a warm place to sleep, the Fredericksburg Cold Night Shelter is open every night the temperature is forecast to drop below 32 degrees.  At 6:00 p.m. Volunteers arrive at the shelter to begin making beds and preparing for guest arrival.  The guests arrive at 6:45, and volunteers assist with check-in, and help guests settle in.  Paid staff stays overnight.

SOKS: Speak, Dream, Grow, Read Camp- One week long, SOKS (Swahili for Speak, Dream, Read, Grow) Camp gives performing arts experience to sixty to eighty children.

Micah Ecumenical Ministries- Micah is a Christ centered community response to the needs of our neighbors.  Aiding a largely homeless population, Micah provides a place where people can eat, shower and receive needed services.  Micah also organizes free meals, the cold weather shelter, and a respite house where those without homes can recover from illness.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters- Providing Community-Based and School-Based Mentoring. Spending time together out in the local community is primarily how Bigs and Littles develop their relationship. After all, to change a child’s perspective of the world, it helps to spend some time out in it. Sometimes the best place for enjoying activities together is at the child’s school. And, the best part is, it can be a great learning experience, in or out of the classroom.

Habitat for Humanity

Hope House- The Hope House provides a safe haven for homeless mothers and their children in the Rappahannock Region who seek to turn their lives around and become independent and self-sufficient citizens.  We support their efforts by providing the necessary life-skills in a structured environment that will enable them to gain and sustain employment.  Sustainable employment is the only means of successfully gaining and maintaining permanent housing.

The Clinic puts particular emphasis on prevention and individual patient education, as well as providing early intervention, to prevent and/or treat illness and disease.

Rappahannock Council on Domestic Violence- RCDV is a non-profit organization providing confidential domestic violence assistance in the city of Fredericksburg and the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George, and Caroline since 1978.
