“I need something more! For if I know the law but still can't keep it, and if the power of sin within me keeps sabotaging my best intentions, I obviously need help! I realize that I don't have what it takes. I can will it, but I can't do it. I decide to do good, but I don't really do it; I decide not to do bad, but then I do it anyway. My decisions, such as they are, don't result in actions. Something has gone wrong deep within me and gets the better of me every time.” (Romans 7:17-20)

The Enneagram as a Tool for Spiritual Transformation, led by Jim Dannals
The roots of the Enneagram grew out of the wisdom of the early desert fathers and mothers of the Christian tradition. Evagrius Ponticus was a disciple of Basil of Caesarea, Gregory of Nazianzus, and Macarius of Egypt. He was a teacher of others, including John Cassian and Palladius. St. Benedict was also influenced by the spiritual wisdom of Evagrius. Evagrius taught that as we discover our strengths and weaknesses, we begin to see that we have been wrong about how we see the world, ourselves and God.
For example, in the wisdom of the Enneagram, as we own and embrace and let go of our anger, we find serenity. Anger moves to serenity-patience supported by Peace. Pride moves to humility supported by Grace. Deceit-Vanity moves to integrity supported by Hope. Envy moves to harmony-balance supported by Life. Greed moves to generosity supported by the Way of Wisdom. Fear moves to courage supported by Faith. Gluttony moves to sobriety-fortitude supported by Joy. Lust moves to compassion supported by Truth. Laziness moves to essential action supported by Love.
We will meet from 10-11:30 am on Thursday mornings AND 7-8:30 pm on Thursday evenings January 19 through March 29, excluding March 22.
