Children of all ages are welcome at St. George’s!
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a place of simplicity and order, prayer, work and community, designed to help form children’s faith in a nurturing environment without books or “classrooms.” It’s quite different from “Sunday School” as you might have experienced it or seen elsewhere. Learn more our program here: Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Throughout the year, there are a number of family-friendly activities. These include:
- Welcome Back “Sundaes on Sunday” Party
- Shrine Mont Parish Retreat in Orkney Springs, VA
- Third Grade Bibles Presented
- Christmas Parade Viewing Party
- Christmas Eve Pageant
- Preschool Ash Wednesday Service
- Children’s Easter Vigil – Liturgy of the Light
- Easter Egg Hunt
- Summer Picnic Fun
- Vacation Bible School
- Kids Care – Outreach Club for 2nd – 5th graders
In Church: The Rug
Kids have taught us that they need to be able to see what is going on. So we responded by creating a soft space in the front of our worship area. The rug at the front of the nave is a space for kids and parents to sit and listen and see. We have found that in this spot children are also able to get up and find parents nearby with minimal disruption once they are able to be on the rug by themselves.
We invite you and your child to join us on the Rug.
Children are invited to sign up to carry forward the Eucharistic elements of bread and wine at our 9 a.m. service. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Children are welcome to Greet at the front doors before the services. Just Show up!
If you are interested in having your child baptized at St. George’s, see Baptism.
