It is our mission to reach out and journey with those we know who are experiencing life transition or crisis.
The Reverend James C. Dannals (Jim) joined us in 2004. He is a graduate of Florida State University and Yale University Divinity School.
Prior to coming to St. George's, Jim served congregations in Massachusetts, North Carolina and Florida.
He desires to empower God's people for a life of reconciliation and compassionate service.
Jim is a student and teacher of the Enneagram, an ancient tool for spiritual transformation.
He is married to Carolyn Hoffman Dannals, an early childhood educator, and they have three adult sons.

The Reverend Gay M. Rahn joined us in 2005. Prior to coming to St. George's, Gay served churches in Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and Massachusetts.
Gay and Tom are the parents of three adult daughters and have three grandchildren. Gay is from Savannah and had the blessing of growing up with a Methodist mother and a Roman Catholic father.
Widely recognized as a leader in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Gay Rahn introduced our children to the Catechesis. In addition, Gay has used her extensive experience and expertise in developing and supporting our adult spiritual formation program.
Gay is a beekeeper and apitherapist.
The Reverend Thomas R. Hughes joined the St. George's staff in December 2009.

John H. Vreeland joined St. George's in 2005 as Director of Music Ministries. John holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and a Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Buffalo.
He serves as parish organist, arranges and composes music for choir and instrumental ensembles, and directs the Choir of St. George’s, Jazz Ensemble Choir, St. George Voices, Chamber Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble. He also provides support for the Adult and Children’s Hand Bell program, Celtic Ensemble and children’s music program, and serves as artistic director of St. George’s First Friday Concert Series and Sunday Chamber Music Series.
John lives in Fredericksburg with his wife, Mary, who is also an active participant in St. George’s music program.

Carey Chirico joined our staff in 2007 as Director of Children’s Ministries. This ½ time position allows us to strengthen our Christian Formation and Spiritual Formation offerings for children and their families. Carey oversees programs for our children Nursery through fifth grade. She works with the Guild of the Christ Child, our parents group for the birth to age 3 families, and the Children’s Formation Commission to plan and enrich our school age children’s activities. Carey has spent many years in leadership at St. George’s in outreach, fellowship and education ministries including Vestry service.
In 2009 Carey became full time when she also became the Director of Outreach Ministries. With St George’s passion for service in our community this is a busy and vibrant work. She also works with our Missions Commission to plan and grow our program of transformational journeys of service in the world.
Carey received a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Richmond and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and Special Education. She has completed Level I and Level II Catechesis of the Good Shepherd training. Her work experience includes self contained special education K-3, preschool teaching and Director of Happy Kids Summer Preschool for children living at our local shelters. Carey and her husband, Bernie, are the proud parents of two college age children, two dogs, one cat and any number of fish.
Robin Roberson began at St. George's in November 2011. Robin came to us from St. Stephen the Martyr Episcopal Church in Edina, Minnesota where she was Assistant Director of a 20 child preschool choir and is currently working as the music education coordinator at The Music School at Roberson’s here in Fredericksburg. Robin leads the sining in the 3-5 year old Atrium on Sunday mornings and she works with our school age singers as well developing a true children’s choir here at St. George’s..

Ben Hicks joined our staff in 2007. His primary areas of ministry are Finance, HR, Insurance, Contracts and Facilities Infrastructure.
Born in Fredericksburg, Ben received a BA at Davidson College in History and a MAE at Wake Forest. After his education, he spent 6 years as a teacher in Winchester City Schools and then 22 years at the National Bank of Fredericksburg in credit, loan review, compliance and network administration.

Nancy Schwartz joined our staff as Parish Coordinator in December 2009. In addition to previous positions as a legal assistant, Nancy served as the Church Administrator at Faith Lutheran Church in Winnipeg, Canada. She is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) with a B.S. in Business Administration.
Originally from Ohio, Nancy and her family have lived all over the world. Her husband, Todd, is a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. Their travels have allowed Nancy to volunteer extensively, including serving as Sunday School Teacher and Administrator at Episcopal and Anglican congregations from Tunisia to the Philippines.
Nancy and Todd have four children, Christopher, David, John and Grace and live in Stafford County.
Anne Beals joined us in July 2011.

Mariam Mubangu is our Sexton. Mariam is originally from the Congo and came to the US as a refugee. She previously worked at a Stafford County motel. Mariam’s long term goal is to be a nurse, however, in the interim, she is proud to provide St. George’s with a “clean and shining facility.”
